Letter from Ling

Dear you — yes, you —

Maybe you know what it's like to sit at a table full of family — and somehow still feel alone. Or maybe your table is loud, full of laughter and noise, until something real comes up and suddenly there is yelling or no one is saying anything at all. Maybe love in your home looked like a bowl of cut fruit left on your desk, or a parent who worked long hours so you could have everything they never did. Maybe you experienced real love — just not always the kind that came with the words to match.

I lived that. I was born and raised in Queens, in a Malaysian-Chinese American household where so much was given yet so much went unsaid. My parents divorced. My younger brother and I grew in our own ways separately. And then in 2018, our mother passed — suddenly, without warning — and the weight of everything we hadn't worked through came rushing in.

I struggled, especially as I watched my brother struggle. But as I found my mother’s kindness and generosity carry on through me and her loved ones, I began to understand that healing isn't just personal. It's cultural. It's generational. It’s communal. It's the conversation our parents didn't know how to have, finding its way into our own lives and relationships years later.

As a first-generation American, a proud New Yorker, a still growing elder sister, and a public high school educator, I hold the 1st/2nd Generation American and immigrant community near and dear to my heart — in our ongoing journey of healing and becoming. Suamora is a safe space for the caretakers and the givers, for us who have always loved deeply but weren't always shown how, for us who love our families and also need to heal from them, for us who are figuring out who we are outside of who we were raised to be.

Suamora Wellness exists as the community I wish had existed while my mom was still around — for us learning to tend to tender relationships, and for us navigating the complicated conversations that lead to the beautiful work of belonging, becoming, and bridging the gap between where we come from, who we're choosing to be, and what we're building.

Combining Sisu — the Finnish word for resilience — and Amor — the Latin word for love — Suamora is our reminder that resilient love is a key ingredient to our past, present, and future generations' healing and thriving. May we give our flowers while those we admire and appreciate are still alive. Because love that is both open and resilient is how we find our way home — to our truest selves, and to each other.

Thank you dear one for being here. Thank you for sharing this space with us.

With much love,

Gao, Jian Ling

Our Mission

For the 1st and 2nd generation Americans and immigrants carrying more than they will ever share — we built this for you.
Suamora Wellness is a conscious community rooted in holistic healing, compassionate communication, and the belief that you deserve to belong between two worlds, become who you were always meant to be, and bridge the gap — for yourself, your roots, and every generation that follows.

We are building a world our children will not have to survive, but will thrive in.

This is for the ones handed two worlds and told to figure it out. The first- and second-generation Americans and immigrants who showed up, held it together, and still have more to carry. The small business owner who pours into everyone else. The child who became the translator — of language, of culture, of grief. The family trying to stay close across generations that see the world differently.

You were never supposed to do this alone.

Suamora Wellness is a conscious community rooted in holistic healing and compassionate communication. We hone the conditions for real transformation — mental, emotional, relational, and financial — held by people who see the full complexity of who you are and where you come from. We begin where the need is most present: walking alongside small business owners and entrepreneurs as they build businesses and tend to themselves in the same breath. We gather through intimate, culturally-rooted wellness workshops, elevating events, virtual community spaces, and transformative retreats in nature-immersed locations — places where support and rest are not rewards but powerful tools for the bumpy journey ahead, and where breakthroughs happen because the community carries what you weren't meant to hold alone.

We amplify voices through the Suamora Stories podcast, bringing local experts and community leaders into conversation with the people who need them most. We build language learning and compassionate communication resources for the ones still finding their words. We partner with nonprofits, schools, and institutions to bring healing-centered restorative practices and generational financial literacy into the systems that shape our communities. And we are planting roots in major hub cities where our people deserve to thrive — creating physical and digital homes where every generation that carries this story can find support, be seen, finally exhale — enjoying the fruits of their labor.

"What does resilient love look like for you today?"

This is the fruit of everything we believe —
and the seed of everything we’re building.
